Mr Kwasi Adjei-Boateng, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, has lauded STAR Ghana Foundation for its commitment and tenacity in building a niche and respected brand within the governance landscape of Ghana.

“With almost a decade of working in Ghana, you have focused among other things on service delivery, popular participation, promotion of gender equity and inclusion of the vulnerable in the local governance discourse,” Mr Adjei-Boateng at STAR Ghana Local Governance Grant Partners’ Learning Event in Accra

The Registrar's Offices is headed by the Registrar, who is the Institute’s Chief Administrative Officer and Secretary to the Council of the Institute. The Registrar's Offices is responsible, under the Director, for the day-to -day administration and management of the Institute. To achieve this, the Registrar works in concert with and collaborates with other Offices of the Institute’s Central Administration and General Services.

Capacity Building and Training: Local Government Service Continuous Professional Development

The ILGS in collaboration with the OHLGS offers the enhanced Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme for staff of the Local Government Service. These programmes, referred to as the Local Government (LG) Scheme of Service (SoS) Training Programmes have a menu of courses that is fit-for-purpose for the various professional classes clustered as follows:

  • administrators;
  • human resource managers;
  • environmental health and sanitation officers;
  • finance, budget and rating officers;
  • planners (development and physical);
  • engineers and;
  • management information system officers.
